Personal profile

Currently, I work at Hartpury College as a part-time Senior equine lecturer in Higher Education; I am a Fellow of the British Horse Society (FBHS) and as such, freelance teach locally, across the UK as well as overseas, particularly in China. I am also a BHS Chief Assessor, a listed British Dressage judge and an Expert Witness. Prior to this, for a total of sixteen years I worked at Hartpury College in various guises including Equine Director and International Director.

Some of my other jobs include working as Chief Instructor for the British Army in West Berlin, Germany, as Chief Instructor for ten years at Wellington Riding near Reading and three years as Head of Training, Education and Development and Deputy CEO at the BHS.

The majority of my equitation and coaching training was with Molly Sivewright, FBHS at the Talland School of Equitation (where I also worked for several years running student career courses), to whom I owe much of my knowledge and love of the horse.

I have travelled to many places overseas both to work and to teach such as, USA, Australia, Malaysia, Israel, Scandinavia, Germany and France.

I have competed in the disciplines of dressage up to Prix St Georges, evented up to Intermediate level and show jumped to Foxhunter. I have presented many equestrian coaching and examination videos including a series for the Chinese equine market, written chapters for BHS manuals and numerous training articles for the equestrian press.
