Personal profile

Overview

I am a lecturer in the HE Equine Department where I programme manage the FdSc in Equine Performance and BSc (Hons) in Equestrian Sports Coaching. I have been lecturing for 25 years in both the FE and HE sector.

I currently teach a range of practical and theoretical sessions which include, ground schooling, coaching and a range of equine management topics for Equestrian Practice. Concentrating on building confidence with knowledge and understanding to help prepare students for the industry for the betterment of the horse.

My main areas of interest are working to  improve coach relationship with the rider. One area of focus is coach intimidation and improving coaches awarenes of rider anxiety and mental health.

From a rider point of view I am interested in looking into the impact of an educational setting on rider confidence.

Another area that I am interested in looking into is the effect training aids can have on a horse in relation to stride length and posture whilst it is being ground schooled.
